Dr Stephen Marcus and his wife Barbara Kroll have been in South Africa teaching Releasing in the townships of Khayelitsha and Phillipi, near Cape Town, and also in the town of Cradock, still divided by traumatic events from the time of apartheid. The work of the Lindwall Foundation is based on and continues the legacy of its Founders, the late Dr E. E. "Isa" Lindwall and Ruth S. "Yolanda" Lindwall.
Utilizing a technique they developed called "Releasing", the Lindwalls have been working since the 1970's to help laypersons, health care professionals, and clergy create an international network of trained individuals dedicated to lifting humanity from the painful and often heartbreaking and constraining experiences of life. They have personally worked in the U.S. and 38 other countries over the last 25 years, and their work continues and grows through empowering others to learn, practice and teach Releasing.
The Lindwall Foundation was established in 1998 to support this growth, and to provide a means to support Outreach work to economically disadvantaged communities, in the US and abroad.
